Month: January 2014

PRACTICE STARTS TODAY

Guys, Practice starts today at 9 pm at Starfire. I’m very excited this year we’ll be starting our adult semi-pro Washington State league, EPLWA. I will do everything in my power to make this league be successful. I am committed to getting players who are dedicated to the next level. I will use all of my knowledge and connections to get you there. Be prepared, come with your shin guards and shoes and socks of course. I know you’re adults but soccer players forget a lot of things. See you on the pitch.

KAMAL HASSAN

The services of triple international Kamal Hassan will no longer be available to Fiji after the striker’s decision to move overseas with his wife and settle in the United States.

The departure of Hassan is a particular blow to Lautoka, who will now be without him for their upcoming campaign in the Battle of the Giants, a tournament the region will host next month at Churchill Park.

Hassan was signed by the Blues from Rewa and took part in the 2010 and 2011 editions of the O-League but Lautoka failed to progress to the final on both occasions.

The club are obviously disappointed to lose a player of his stature but president Shalendra Prasad says they did not try to stand in his way.

While the 28-year-old is planning to make the move a long-term one, he indicated he is interested in once more pulling on the Lautoka jersey.

“Kamal has moved to the US and will be looking to join a club there,” Prasad confirmed. “But he has promised to come back in three months to represent Lautoka in the Inter District Competition.”

Hassan was included in the Fiji squad for the OFC Nations Cup, which took place earlier this month in the Solomon Islands capital Honiara, but could not take up the opportunity after fracturing his arm while playing for Lautoka in the Fiji FACT semi-final against Ba.

In a double disappointment for Hassan, he also saw his side’s FACT dreams come to an end as the Blues lost that match 1-0 at Ba’s Govind Park.

Fiji could have done with his presence in Honiara as they scored just once in three matches and suffered a disappointing exit in the group stages without posting a win.

The multi-talented Hassan has captained his country’s futsal and beach soccer national teams and was a nominee for the OFC Player of the Year award in 2009.

Hassan played second half of the Game for the local club Seattle Stars FC  last Friday October 19th 2012 at Starfire Sports Complex in Tukwila WA. Unfortunately Seattle Stars FC lost the game 0-1 . We will ssee more of this talented soccer player playing for the Seattle Stars FC in 2013 and 2014
